Aisles Online Shopper

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring an Aisles Online Shopper in its Sioux Falls store. Online customers rely on these shoppers to pick the best quality groceries across all departments, from fresh produce and meat to pantry staples, so that every order is fulfilled with care and precision. The role is fast-paced, independent and requires attention to detail.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and assist them with their needs throughout the store
• Select the highest quality produce, meat and other fresh products for online orders
• Select, scan and bag items from all temperature zones, keeping products at the right temperature
• Place orders in storage, retrieve them before customers arrive, cart them and put them in the holding area
• Lift, carry and load groceries into customer vehicles
• Tender orders through the POS and process credit card payments
• Substitute products on request or when items are unavailable
• Monitor incoming orders to ensure prompt, on-time fulfillment
• Answer phones and emails and follow dress code, hygiene standards and company guidelines
• Pitch in with other tasks and special projects

• Ability to stay organized and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Problem-solving skills, including making product substitutions on the fly
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Required skills

• Clear, professional communication with customers and store personnel
• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades where applicable
• Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in line with DOT standards where applicable
• Exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards from cooking, baking or grilling equipment where applicable

The work is primarily in a retail store setting, with frequent standing, walking, reaching and bending, and possible exposure to dust, noise, temperature extremes and moving equipment. Training is provided on safety. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen.
