About the role

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department is hiring Airport Police Officer Trainees to protect travelers, prevent crime, and enforce airport regulations at Dulles or Reagan airports. New hires will receive extensive training and a $10,000 sign‑on bonus.

Key responsibilities

Patrol assigned areas, respond to calls for service, and mediate disputes.
Conduct investigations, collect evidence, and preserve crime scenes.
Perform searches, detain suspicious persons, and serve legal documents.
Testify in court and complete required training drills.

Required profile

U.S. citizen, at least 20 years 6 months old.
Pass medical, vision, drug, cognitive, physical, psychological, and polygraph exams.
Complete the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy and obtain law‑enforcement certification.
Hold a valid state or D.C. driver’s license.

Required skills

Proficiency with computers and modern office‑suite software.
Firearms proficiency and ability to operate emergency vehicles.
