Aircraft Mechanic - Powerplant VMG

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Aircraft Mechanic-Powerplant to perform organizational, intermediate and limited depot-level maintenance on assigned aircraft, components and equipment. The role covers inspection, operational testing, repair, modification and troubleshooting, and provides technical guidance to other employees. Work is usually done in a hangar, shop or flight-line environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain aircraft main, auxiliary and secondary power systems, fuel systems, engine-level and bleed-air components
• Troubleshoot and test power-plant systems, replace or repair fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, engine-mounted gearboxes and compressor bleed valves
• Remove engines, inspect parts for wear, cracks or defects, repair or replace them, then reassemble and install the engine
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, test specifications, procedures and safety manuals
• May be required to work off-site on assigned detachments

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, with at least three years of experience
• Experience in corrosion detection, treatment and prevention
• Recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, E-2C or F-16A-B aircraft
• Valid state driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government clearance (US citizenship required)
• Prior military members must present a DD214 with an honorable discharge
• Ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules

Required skills

• NALCOMIS/OOMA training preferred
• Support equipment operator's license (tow tractor, N2 servicing trailer and mobile start unit at a minimum)
• Preferred: aircraft towing certified, aircraft brake rider certified, plane captain qualified, ORM training, fuel surveillance training, engine run certification
• Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds and work in noisy, variable-temperature environments
