Aircraft Mechanic II

About the role

Aircraft Mechanic II performs inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting on assigned aircraft. The role covers preflight, in-flight and post-flight inspections, servicing, repairs and minor maintenance, and includes mentoring other mechanics and technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Follow Technical Orders, SOPs, Air Force Instructions and other directives, and perform launch, recovery, scheduled and unscheduled inspections and maintenance
• Carry out preflight, in-flight, post-flight and phase inspections, ground handling, minor maintenance and servicing
• Troubleshoot, install, repair and maintain aircraft systems and components, and remove and install components
• Maintain aircraft structures, systems and equipment in line with FAA regulations and maintenance manuals
• Provide on-the-job training to other mechanics and sign off training records
• Assist with the Tool Control Program, order parts through the Air Force supply system and complete assigned training
• Drive vehicles on the flightline, notify the Shift Lead when aircraft are crew ready, and conduct aircrew debriefings
• Service and maintain ground support equipment, clean aircraft and work areas, and complete maintenance documentation before the end of each shift

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Eight years of aircraft maintenance experience, including compliance with servicing procedures, maintenance manuals and parts catalogs
• Aircraft maintenance experience on KC-46 aircraft preferred
• Current state driver's license and a Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required for facility credentials
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and to work outdoors in noise, low light and inclement weather

Required skills

• FAA Airframe, Powerplant or Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification preferred
• Reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, service bulletins, blueprints, wiring diagrams and specifications
