Aircraft Mechanic (CBP)

About the role

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection and aircraft servicing on assigned aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment, in line with applicable instructions. The position is paid at an hourly rate of $53.60.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, preventively maintain, inspect, repair and modify aircraft according to 14 CFR and DoD regulations, technical manuals and other data.
• Perform daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft.
• Inspect, control corrosion, troubleshoot and isolate faults in aircraft systems.
• May fly on Government aircraft for relocation, in-flight checks and troubleshooting that cannot be done on the ground.
• May travel to temporary duty sites inside and outside the United States and travel periodically to support customers' missions.
• Furnish own hand tools; special tools and test equipment are provided by Customs.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited program.
• Valid FAA Mechanic License with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
• Valid State Driver's License and willingness to undergo random drug tests.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability Clearance (US citizenship required).
• Able to stand, squat, sit, walk and work with arms overhead for long periods, pull, push and lift up to 50 lbs, and wear a respirator or ear protection when needed.
• Reliable, good judgment, able to meet deadlines and follow hazardous waste procedures.

Required skills

• Competence in repairing and maintaining airframes, hydraulics, fuel systems and aircraft engines.
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English and interpret technical data.
