Aircraft Mechanic - Avionics (VMG)

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Aircraft Mechanic-Avionics (VMG) to perform organizational, intermediate and limited depot-level maintenance on assigned aircraft, components and equipment. The role covers inspection, operational testing, repair, modification and troubleshooting, and provides technical guidance to other employees. Work is usually done in a hangar, shop or flight-line environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform testing and troubleshooting of weapons systems, avionics, electrical and communication/navigation systems, electronic flight control, fuel, power generators, lighting, flight instruments and engine indications, ATFLIR, ECM and radar systems.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to aircrew during debriefs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, test specifications, procedures and safety manuals.
• Work in a hangar or flight line, lifting objects up to 70 pounds, and possibly in inclement weather or noisy areas.

Required profile

• At least three years of experience, including corrosion detection, treatment and prevention.
• High school diploma or equivalent; military personnel must provide a DD214 with an honorable discharge.
• Valid state driver's license and ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required qualifications, certifications, licenses or clearances.
• Preferred: recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, E-2C or F-16 aircraft.

Required skills

• NALCOMIS/OOMA training preferred; hazardous waste, FOD/TCP and security clearance awareness training required.
• Support equipment operator's license (tow tractor, N2 servicing trailer and mobile start unit at a minimum).
• Preferred: aircraft towing, brake rider, plane captain qualified, ORM and fuel surveillance training.
