Aircraft Engineer Level 1 – Powerplant

About the role

UPS Airlines is seeking a Level 1 Powerplant Engineer to support the safety, reliability, and airworthiness of its worldwide cargo fleet. The role is office‑based with occasional travel to support engineering projects and collaborate with manufacturers.

Key responsibilities

• Trend engine performance data and provide troubleshooting recommendations.
• Evaluate vendor repair documentation to authorize engine repairs.
• Collaborate with non‑engineering groups to address aircraft maintenance and reliability issues.
• Work with engine and component manufacturers to develop solutions for fleet repair challenges.
• Prepare Engineering Orders for repairs, alterations, and Airworthiness Directives.
• Generate Engineering Reports and Substantiation Forms to document analysis and minor repairs.
• Develop and implement safety, reliability, and airworthiness policies, standards, and procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends when required.
• Experience with large commercial gas‑turbine engines and federal aviation regulations.
• Background in modification/repair development, project planning, and project management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of gas‑turbine engine performance analysis.
• Familiarity with aviation regulatory compliance (FAA).
• Engineering order and documentation preparation.
• Project planning and management techniques.
