Air Traffic Controller – Springdale Tower

About the role

The Air Traffic Controller will ensure the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic at the Springdale Tower, operating under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) in a busy airport environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage departures and arrivals, coordinating takeoff times, runway usage, and sequencing of IFR and VFR traffic.
• Monitor and operate communications frequencies, navigational aids, tower radar displays, and runway lighting systems.
• Pre‑plan traffic sequencing within a 5‑mile radius, maintain continuous radio watch, and provide pilots with weather, field conditions, and emergency assistance.
• Provide on‑the‑job training to other controllers and perform lower‑grade duties as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years experience as an Air Traffic Controller.
• Current or previous Control Tower Operator (CTO) Certificate with a facility rating.
• Current Class II Medical Certificate.
• Ability to pass DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing.

Required skills

• Control Tower Operator Certificate (CTO).
• Class II Medical Certificate.
• Proficiency with tower radar displays and communications equipment.
• Knowledge of IFR and VFR separation standards and procedures.
