AI Engineer II – Generative AI & Data Science

About the role

The Deloitte Human Capital team is seeking an AI Engineer II to design, build, and operate data, feature, and GenAI foundations that power AI products and analytics for HR solutions. You will work closely with AI Data Engineers and Lead AI Solutions Architects to deliver secure, scalable, and production‑ready AI services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and ship production pipelines and services for model training, real‑time inference, and LLM applications using Claude, GPT/Codex, Gemini and other models.
• Build and operationalize LLM‑enabled capabilities such as copilots, knowledge assistants, summarization, and policy Q&A, including secure endpoints and reusable prompt patterns.
• Implement retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) patterns, document ingestion, embeddings, vector/hybrid search, and telemetry for evaluation.
• Deliver governed datasets and feature engineering pipelines for ML training and inference, ensuring data quality, lineage, caching, latency SLOs and backfills.

Required profile

• 2+ years experience building and delivering LLM/GenAI solutions with Claude/GPT/Codex/Gemini.
• 2+ years in data and AI engineering, including batch/streaming pipelines, feature serving, and real‑time inference services.
• Proven ability to work independently, collaborate across teams, and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• LLM technologies (Claude, GPT, Gemini) and prompt/context design.
• Retrieval‑augmented generation, embeddings, vector/hybrid search.
• API design (REST, GraphQL), microservices, event‑driven architectures.
• DevOps/DevSecOps tools: CI/CD, Terraform, CloudFormation, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP.
