AI Architect / Developer (Hybrid)

About the role

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a highly skilled AI Architect/Developer hybrid (3 days a week in Long Beach, CA) who bridges AI strategy and production-grade implementation. The role covers designing scalable AI ecosystems, choosing model architectures and building custom AI solutions, pipelines and integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into robust, high-performance AI architectural blueprints.
• Write clean, modular and maintainable production code.
• Conduct model tuning, quantization and pruning to meet performance thresholds.
• Act as a lead developer, mentoring junior staff and ensuring code quality and model security.
• Work in an Agile/Scrum framework with frequent delivery milestones.
• Maintain architectural documentation, including data flow diagrams and API specifications.
• Follow data privacy standards and secure AI development practices.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience designing, developing and delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions, including AI/ML architectures.
• Proven ability to turn business requirements into secure, scalable, high-performance AI platforms.
• Experience designing scalable machine learning infrastructure (on-prem, cloud-hybrid or multi-cloud).
• Ability to select LLMs, SLMs or traditional ML models based on latency, cost and accuracy.
• Experience integrating AI services with enterprise software, including security, compliance and data governance.

Required skills

• Python-based frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LlamaIndex)
• CI/CD for AI, model versioning and monitoring (MLflow, Kubeflow, Weights & Biases)
• RESTful APIs (FastAPI, Flask) and data pipelines (Apache Airflow, Kafka, Spark)
• Neural networks and transformer architecture, including loss functions and optimization
• Python, SQL, and C++ or Go for high-performance components
• Docker and Kubernetes; vector databases (Pinecone, Milvus, Weaviate) and RDBMS/NoSQL

• Base compensation range of $101,140 - $182,624 per year, depending on location, experience and qualifications.
