Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) Mechanic

About the role

Amentum supports the New York Air National Guard and the US Air Force aircraft contracted by the United States Antarctica Program, including the LC-130, C-17, B-757, A-319, L-100, C-130, Basler and Twin Otter. The AGE Mechanic maintains equipment in serviceable condition, carries out servicing inspections and repairs of non-operational equipment, and provides airfield manager status of runways and skiways for aircraft movement.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair aerospace ground equipment in the field or in a shop, with little supervision
• Perform service, maintenance, repair and overhaul in line with manufacturer recommendations and Air Force Technical Orders
• Overhaul, repair or maintain gasoline and diesel-powered equipment, and inspect lift equipment before issue
• Use diagnostic equipment to find and fix faults, and operate shop equipment such as load banks, welders, compressors, presses and nitrogen charging units
• Inspect and maintain generator sets, and service aircraft latrines and empty urinals
• Document work performed, equipment status, records and reports, and recommend parts resupply to the AGE Mechanic Lead
• Provide flight line services, work from work orders, and communicate with NYANG and USAF personnel daily
• Maintain a clean, orderly and safe workplace, comply with EHS and quality requirements, and work rotating shifts 24 hours a day, including outdoors in severe weather

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• At least four years of experience with diesel and gasoline engines, electrical/electronic and hydraulic systems
• Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods, with medical, dental, drug screening, background checks and US citizenship for facility credentials
• Ability to lift and move equipment, climb in and out of equipment, crawl and work outdoors in extreme cold
• Valid US driver's license

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and computer-based documentation of work orders and inventory
• Preferred: two years of technical school or similar military training
