Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing Expert – AI Trainer

About the role

Mercor is seeking an experienced Aerospace & Defense manufacturing professional to help create realistic digital workspaces for training frontier AI agents. You will design multi‑step tasks that mirror real‑world workflows and collaborate with research teams to shape benchmark scenarios.

Key responsibilities

• Build a digital workspace that replicates daily Drive folder structures, including program decks, CDRLs, SOWs, engineering change proposals, V&V plans, supplier qualification packages, risk registers, and email threads.
• Design multi‑app, multi‑stakeholder tasks that challenge AI agents in realistic A&D environments.
• Partner with other aerospace and defense experts to define task scope, ensure realism, and review scenarios for rigor.
• Work asynchronously with research teams to refine task designs and evaluation criteria for A&D agent benchmarks.
• Contribute insights that directly inform how leading AI labs train and evaluate next‑generation systems.

Required profile

• 3+ years full‑time experience at a Fortune 500 A&D prime, major Tier‑1 supplier, or federally‑funded R&D center.
• Background in program/project management, aerospace design, supply‑chain management, quality assurance, or systems engineering.
• US Person status required for most A&D work.
• Daily use of ANSYS Fluent or STAR‑CCM+, Siemens Opcenter or Rockwell FactoryTalk, and Jira/Confluence.
• Strong analytical thinking and written communication skills.
