Aegis Operating Environment Engineer

About the role

MANTECH is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Aegis Operating Environment (OE) Engineer to join its team in King George, Virginia. This is an onsite, full-time position supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) in the digital and networking aspects of the Aegis system, so that the detect-to-engage process runs flawlessly and at high speed. The projected compensation range is $70,200 to $117,000.

Key responsibilities

• Provide onboard and remote support to help the ship's force keep the combat system running.
• Computer and network maintenance: servers, routers, data buses (including fiber optics) and other digital interfaces.
• System diagnostics and troubleshooting using built-in and external test equipment to find hardware or software faults.
• Software and data management: loading, initializing and running diagnostic programs to keep the combat system software up to date.
• Display and control systems: display consoles and human-machine interfaces used in the Combat Information Center (CIC).
• Support for other interconnected combat systems on the ship.

Required profile

• 5+ years of general engineering experience in design, development, testing, maintenance (fleet support), build, installation, documentation or configuration management of a combat system.
• 3+ years in the Operational Environment (OE), including computer software engineering on COTS operating systems such as RedHat, RedHawk, Solaris or HP-UX, network protocols, Cisco IOS configuration, blade servers, VME single-board computers or combat system load cycles.
• 2+ years of recent experience (within the last seven years) with developmental or operational combat systems or computer program versions.
• Current or active Secret clearance; ability to stay stationary about half the time and move frequently in a shipboard or test-lab setting.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently; prior US Navy experience as an Aegis Computer Network Technician is highly desirable.
