Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner – Critical Care (Full Time)

About the role

The University of Miami’s Department of Critical Care is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to provide autonomous, high‑quality care to critically ill patients. The role involves comprehensive assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and coordination of care across the continuum.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and document complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories for patients of all ages.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic and therapeutic tests based on patient needs.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments in accordance with state regulations.
• Implement interventions to maintain or restore physiologic stability.
• Monitor patient response to interventions and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Facilitate patient transitions, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and make appropriate referrals.
• Provide education and decision‑making support to patients, families, and staff.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant nursing field.
• Valid Florida APRN license.
• Acute Care certification, ACLS and BLS certifications.
• Minimum two years of relevant critical‑care nursing experience.

Required skills

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• Acute Care certification.
