Advanced Practice RN Psychiatry (Hybrid)

About the role

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for the Pediatric Eating Disorders Unit at Children's Medical Center in Plano, Texas. The unit provides integrated clinical services to pediatric patients in inpatient and partial hospitalization settings, within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, therapists, dietitians and nurses. The position is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Provide care across clinic and inpatient settings, balancing productivity, quality and operational performance.
• Take medical histories, perform exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, treat illnesses, prescribe medication and educate patients and families.
• Conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations, including psychological status.
• Develop, implement and evaluate the patient plan of care using evidence-based data.
• Provide management, referrals, counseling and education on current care and preventive health.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and collaborate on research projects and protocols.

Required profile

• Master's degree in nursing or higher, with documentation of completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program.
• APRN license from the Texas State Board of Nursing upon hire, and prescriptive authority authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
• Current American Heart Association Life Support certification upon hire.
• Preferred: 1 year of relevant clinical experience, including psychiatric assessment and treatment of children and adolescents, and a commitment to an academic career.

• Accuracy and sound clinical judgment.
