Advanced Practice RN – Ophthalmology & Oculoplastic Surgery

About the role

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides autonomous, patient‑centered care in ophthalmology and oculoplastic reconstructive surgery. Working closely with physicians, the APRN performs examinations, orders and interprets tests, prescribes treatments, and supports minor procedural workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and document health histories.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests appropriate to patient age and condition.
• Prescribe medications and manage medication reconciliation within APRN scope.
• Prepare and assist with minor chair procedures, including Botox injections, cosmetic laser treatments, and other oculoplastic interventions.
• Coordinate pathology, imaging, and laboratory services prior to patient visits.
• Provide pre‑ and post‑procedure patient education, follow‑up care, and safety monitoring.
• Facilitate multidisciplinary care coordination, especially for oncology and complex cases.
• Complete administrative tasks such as workers’ compensation documentation, FMLA paperwork, and prior authorizations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing with an approved ARNP curriculum.
• Florida licensure as an ARNP and board certification from ANCC or AANP.
• Minimum two years of relevant clinical experience in ophthalmology or related specialty.
• Demonstrated ability to make critical clinical decisions and work independently or collaboratively.
