Advanced Practice RN – Ophthalmology (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami seeks an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (ARNP) specializing in ophthalmology to deliver comprehensive medical care to a diverse patient population. This full‑time position works independently and collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality eye health services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and document complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories.
• Conduct age‑appropriate history and physical assessments autonomously.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic and therapeutic tests based on patient needs.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatment modalities.
• Implement interventions to maintain or restore physiologic stability.
• Ensure care complies with facility, state, and federal regulations.
• Monitor effectiveness of interventions and adjust as needed.
• Facilitate patient transitions across care settings, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and make appropriate referrals.
• Provide educational tools to support staff, patient, and family decision‑making.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing with an approved ARNP curriculum.
• Florida licensure as an ARNP from the Florida Board of Nursing.
• Board certification as an ARNP from a nationally accredited organization (e.g., ANCC or AANP).
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize under pressure.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
