Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – SICU (UTower)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at the U‑Tower. The APRN will provide direct and indirect patient care, supervise staff, and collaborate with the medical and nursing directors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and document comprehensive physical examinations and health histories.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments appropriate to patient needs.
• Implement interventions to maintain or restore physiologic stability.
• Monitor patient response and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Facilitate patient transitions, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and make appropriate referrals.
• Provide education and decision‑making support to patients, families, and staff.
• Ensure compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant nursing field.
• Valid State of Florida APRN license.
• Minimum three (3) years of critical‑care experience as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNPC‑AG) or higher.
• Demonstrated learning agility and ability to adopt new procedures and technologies.
