Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Pediatric Care

About the role

Join UAMS as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) delivering comprehensive, evidence‑based care to pediatric patients and their families. The APRN extends the clinical and administrative services of UAMS physicians, ensuring high‑quality, compassionate care.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and evaluate perinatal and medical histories, diagnostic test results, physical examinations, and psychosocial assessments.
• Apply critical thinking and the nursing process to develop short‑ and long‑term care plans, including pharmacologic and diagnostic treatments.
• Provide ongoing patient and family education, follow‑up care, and reassessment of outcomes.
• Document health information, care plans, and billing codes in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Collaborate with referring physicians, allied health professionals, and hospital staff to coordinate care.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Nursing and at least two years of nursing experience.
• Current Registered Nurse license in Arkansas and APRN/CPN license.
• National certification in Pediatric Acute Care or Pediatric Primary Care.
• Basic Life Support certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).
• Ability to safely operate nursing equipment such as scales, procedural tools, blood pressure devices, and EKG machines.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• National Pediatric Acute Care or Primary Care certification.
• Prescriptive authority and DEA license.
• Operation of nursing equipment (scales, procedural equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, EKG machines).
