Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Medical Oncology – Per Diem

About the role

The University of Miami Health System seeks a per‑diem Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specialized in Medical Oncology. The APRN provides independent patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and may prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests while collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive physical examinations, health histories, and age‑appropriate assessments.
• Order, interpret and act on diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments in accordance with protocols.
• Manage symptom control, side‑effect mitigation and emergency oncology situations.
• Conduct bone marrow biopsies and other oncology‑related procedures.
• Coordinate patient transitions, admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and research protocol facilitation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant nursing field.
• Valid Florida APRN license and board certification.
• Minimum two years of Hematology/Oncology nursing experience.
• CITI certification within three months of hire.

Required skills

• CITI certification
• CPR and ACLS certification
• OCN or AOCNP credential (or obtain within two years)
• Bone marrow biopsy technique
• Prescribing medications and blood products
