Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Hospital Medicine (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami seeks an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to provide comprehensive hospital medicine care on a full‑time basis. The APRN will work autonomously and in collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories for patients of all ages.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments, including medication management.
• Implement interventions to maintain or restore physiologic stability and monitor their effectiveness.
• Facilitate patient transitions across care settings, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, making referrals as needed.
• Provide education and decision‑making support to patients, families, and staff.
• Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant nursing field.
• Valid State of Florida APRN license (DEA license optional).
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications from an American Heart Association‑approved vendor.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant clinical experience.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize under pressure.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
