Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – General Surgical (Full Time)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specialized in general surgical care. This full‑time position works on the U‑Tower campus, providing autonomous patient care and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive medical care to surgical patients, including examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
• Prescribe medications and order/interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests appropriate to patient age and condition.
• Perform complete physical examinations and document comprehensive health histories.
• Implement pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions to maintain physiologic stability.
• Monitor effectiveness of interventions and adjust care plans as needed.
• Facilitate patient transitions such as admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and make appropriate referrals.
• Provide education and decision‑making support to patients, families, and staff.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant nursing field.
• Valid State of Florida APRN license.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant clinical experience.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize under pressure.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
