Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) – Per Diem in Critical Care

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Anesthesiology at Jackson West is seeking Per Diem Advanced Practice Providers—Nurse Practitioners with acute‑care certification or Physician Assistants—to join its Critical Care Medicine team. You will independently evaluate and treat patients while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and document comprehensive physical examinations and health histories.
• Order and interpret age‑appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments.
• Implement interventions to maintain or restore physiologic stability.
• Assist with patient care in compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
• Monitor effectiveness of interventions and adjust care plans as needed.
• Facilitate patient transitions, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and make appropriate referrals.
• Provide education to patients, families, and staff to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant health field.
• Valid State of Florida APRN or PA license.
• Acute Care certification for NPs (e.g., ACLS) and BLS certification.
• Minimum two years of inpatient experience.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork, and communication abilities.
