About the role
The Advanced Practice Provider will join the University of Miami Neurosurgery Department, delivering high‑quality patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Working closely with neurosurgeons, fellows, residents, and nursing staff, the role supports clinical operations, patient education, and surgical coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Provide advanced practice support for neurosurgical patients in clinic and hospital environments.
- Conduct comprehensive history, physical, and neurological examinations, including cranial and spinal assessments.
- Document patient encounters, dictate notes, and enter information into the electronic health record.
- Order, obtain, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies; prescribe medications and therapies within APRN/PA scope.
- Facilitate patient scheduling, surgical coordination, and post‑operative discharge planning.
- Communicate clinical information to nursing staff and coordinate implementation of departmental policies.
- Analyze patient flow, propose quality‑improvement initiatives, and monitor outcomes across neurosurgical specialties.
- Assist in the design and management of clinical systems and serve as a resource for the department.
Required profile
- Current APRN or Physician Assistant credential with experience in neurosurgery or related surgical specialties.
- Ability to perform detailed neurological examinations and provide patient education.
- Strong documentation skills and proficiency with electronic health record systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate with physicians, residents, and nursing staff.
