Advanced Practice Provider – Medicine Inpatient/Outpatient Hep/GI

About the role

The University of Miami seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or Physician Assistant) to deliver comprehensive care to hepatology and gastroenterology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This onsite position involves direct patient assessment, management, and collaboration with physicians and fellows.

Key responsibilities

• Assess physical and psychosocial status of patients in inpatient and outpatient environments.
• Conduct interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and order diagnostic studies for GI/Hepatology patients.
• Round independently and collaboratively on the Hepatology inpatient service, ensuring timely sign‑out and documentation.
• Provide outpatient care across multiple UHealth locations, managing follow‑up visits, infusion orders, and post‑procedure care.
• Write prescriptions, order labs and procedures, and develop individualized care plans in accordance with practice protocols.
• Initiate and coordinate clinical research protocols, collaborating with research staff.
• Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and education of medical staff.

Required profile

• Current staff, faculty, or temporary employee of the University of Miami (internal application process).
• Acute Care Certification for inpatient work.
• Licensed APRN or Physician Assistant with prescribing authority.
• Ability to work onsite; remote work is not permitted.
• Willingness to cover inpatient rotations (M‑F) and outpatient half‑day clinics across multiple sites.
