Adult Education Part‑time Instructor (Evening) – Corrections

About the role

Columbus Technical College is seeking a part‑time Adult Education Instructor to teach evening classes at a correctional facility. The position is hourly and contingent on program enrollment, providing instruction to students aged 16 and older.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lesson plans aligned with state standards for adult education core curriculum.
• Evaluate student progress, administer pre‑ and post‑tests (TABE 11/12, Best Literacy), and provide feedback.
• Maintain classroom safety and security, monitor attendance, and support recruitment and retention efforts.
• Assist with student orientations, ID processing, and clerical tasks such as filing and typing.
• Use GALIS and TABE online systems to manage student data, test sessions, and schedules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education or a related field.
• One year of specialized classroom teaching experience is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Working knowledge of TABE online software for testing and reporting.
• Familiarity with the GALIS data system for student information management.
