Admission/Discharge/Transfer RN – Emergency Services (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth Hospital Emergency Department is seeking a full‑time Admission, Discharge, and Transfer Registered Nurse (RN) to support patient throughput. The RN will work closely with physicians and the care team to ensure safe and efficient transitions for emergency patients.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and clinical assessments.
• Review and evaluate diagnostic tests, consulting with physicians as needed.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and operate medical equipment.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members in compliance with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Current, valid Florida nursing license.
• CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications.
• At least 2 years of recent nursing experience, preferably in an emergency setting.
• Strong interpersonal communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Moderate to advanced computer literacy; EPIC experience is a plus.
