Adjunct Faculty – University Supervisor (Special & Elementary Education)

About the role

Walden University seeks part‑time Adjunct Faculty to serve as University Supervisors for teacher candidates in special and elementary education. Supervisors will observe, evaluate, and mentor candidates during their demonstration teaching experience, working closely with cooperating teachers and school administrators.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate Walden University expectations for demonstration teaching to cooperating teachers and school administrators.
• Provide orientation to Walden University and the demonstration teaching process for cooperating teachers.
• Mentor and guide assigned teacher candidates enrolled in a state‑approved teacher preparation program.
• Conduct a minimum of four virtual field observations (recorded video) for each candidate during the 12‑week demonstration teaching experience.
• Schedule and lead structured conferences with candidates and cooperating teachers, delivering oral and written feedback.
• Complete formal evaluations of teacher candidates throughout the demonstration teaching period.
• Support licensure candidates in professional growth and preparation for teacher performance assessments.
• Act as liaison between the university and the demonstration teaching site, providing information and support as needed.
• Participate in the College’s Orientation for University Supervisors covering program requirements and evaluation procedures.

Required profile

• Ability to communicate university expectations and provide clear guidance to teachers and administrators.
• Experience mentoring teacher candidates in a state‑approved preparation program.
• Capability to conduct virtual observations and deliver constructive feedback.
