Adjunct Faculty - Undergraduate Audiology (Remote)

About the role

Abilene Christian University (ACU) is hiring an adjunct faculty member to teach undergraduate Audiology within its Communication Disorders program. The position is remote and asynchronous, reports to the Program Director for Communication Disorders and supports online students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders. ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of Churches of Christ, and the position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to support the university's Christian mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction, direction and support for students in the Introduction to Audiology and Hearing Rehabilitation courses in the online classroom.
• Give rich, timely feedback on student work, both encouraging and constructively critical.
• Facilitate classes of up to 30-45 students and place students in groups on Canvas for assignments and discussions.
• Answer student questions about course material and academics in a timely way.
• Hold at least two office hours per week and be available for one-on-one and group virtual meetings.
• Grade all assignments within 24-72 hours and enter final grades after consulting lead faculty and/or the program director by the CHHS deadline.
• Alert lead faculty or the Program Director to student issues such as poor performance or policy violations like plagiarism.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Audiology (AuD) from an accredited institution.
• Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-A).
• Previous online teaching experience in higher education is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work mostly in front of a computer and on the telephone, remaining stationary for long periods, and to communicate clearly.
• Willingness to receive additional training and faculty mentoring.
