Adjunct Faculty - Child and Family Services (Residential)

About the role

Abilene Christian University (ACU) is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach the residential, undergraduate Child and Family Services major, including the Child Life Track. Applicants must be professing Christians and willing to support the Christian mission and purpose of the university while employed there.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction, direction and support for students in the classroom, covering class sizes up to 49 students, possibly divided into sections for discussion and group activities.
• Give rich, timely feedback on student work, and hold at least two office hours per week, available by appointment for in-person or virtual meetings.
• Answer student questions about course material and academics outside class, and enter final grades by the deadline after consulting lead faculty and/or the program director.
• Alert the department chair and/or program director to student issues such as poor performance or policy violations like plagiarism.
• Comply with ACU's Handbook, Faculty Guidelines and the College of Biblical Studies' policies, give feedback to the program director, and attend program and faculty trainings and update credentials as required.
• Attend departmental or team meetings when requested to help plan and develop the program and curriculum.

Required profile

• At least 18 hours of graduate education and particular experience relevant to the assigned courses.
• Commitment to the ACU mission and policies and to the integration of faith and learning.
• Strong written and oral communication, collaboration, organization and project management skills, and the ability to learn new software and learning management systems.
• Ability to handle the physical demands of teaching in the classroom and online, and to work well under pressure.
