Adjunct Clinical Instructor – Diagnostic Medical Sonography

About the role

The College of Health Professions at Ferris State University seeks a part‑time Adjunct Clinical Instructor to oversee and support students completing their diagnostic medical sonography clinical experiences at affiliated sites. The instructor acts as a liaison among students, clinical sites, preceptors, and the academic program to ensure successful competency development.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to assigned clinical sites and conduct on‑site student visits (once or twice per semester, or more as needed).
• Observe, evaluate, and provide timely feedback on student performance in the clinical setting.
• Guide students in applying sonography procedures, professional practices, and documentation using the program’s clinical tracking software.
• Monitor progress toward required clinical competencies and collaborate with preceptors to address gaps.
• Document site visits, evaluations, concerns, and recommendations; communicate significant issues to program faculty.
• Maintain professional relationships with clinical affiliates and ensure adherence to accreditation standards.

Required profile

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (or related health sciences/education).
• Minimum two years of clinical sonography experience.
• Current ARDMS AB and OB certification or ARRT (S) certification.
• Ability to travel to multiple clinical sites and operate a vehicle safely.
