Adjudicator 1 – Disability Claims

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Adjudicator 1 to support the evaluation of Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income claims. Working under supervision, you will gather and assess medical and vocational evidence to determine eligibility for benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical, vocational, and other evidence related to disability claims.
• Prepare detailed written analyses and decisions, and issue notices to claimants and the Social Security Administration.
• Maintain a caseload of initial disability claims, ensuring timely resolution.
• Protect confidential personal and medical information in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Determine additional medical or vocational information needed and arrange for necessary examinations.
• Draft residual functional capacity assessments based on the severity of impairments.
• Consult with internal and external professionals, including physicians and vocational experts, for complex cases.
