About the role
The University of Miami seeks experienced nurse practitioners to serve as preceptors for Acute PT Lecturer students. In this position you will supervise and mentor students during clinical shifts, linking hands‑on practice with academic learning.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision, mentorship, and role‑model evidence‑based practice for nurse practitioner students.
- Facilitate progressive learning experiences, offering constructive feedback on clinical performance and professional development.
- Conduct midterm and final evaluations, approve and verify clinical hours, and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
- Perform site visits each semester to assess student performance, patient interactions, and integration of clinical knowledge.
- Document evaluations, site visits, and clinical progress according to program guidelines.
- Collaborate with faculty to align clinical experiences with course objectives and AACN Essentials.
- Serve as liaison between the clinical site and the academic program, participating in orientation and calibration sessions.
Required profile
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN, DNP, or PhD).
- Active, unencumbered APRN license in the state of practice.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in an acute care specialty (AGACNP).
- 2–3 years of recent clinical experience as a nurse practitioner.
- Previous teaching, precepting, or academic experience strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and mentorship abilities.
- Commitment to student learning, diversity, and professional growth.
