Actuarial Consultant, P&C Practice

About the role

The Property and Casualty Consulting Practice of Oliver Wyman advises insurers, reinsurers, self-insured corporations, government entities and other organisations on managing property and casualty risk and loss exposures. As an actuarial consultant you will develop, validate and operationalise actuarial models and methodologies, working with technologies such as AI on pricing, reserving and capital modelling. The ideal location is New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Charlotte, Atlanta, Houston or Los Angeles, though other locations are open.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse large datasets to inform strategic decisions
• Advise on actuarial methodologies and ensure outputs meet governance frameworks
• Work with clients and senior stakeholders to turn complex findings into actionable recommendations
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate actuarial specifications into technical requirements and validate outcomes
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal best practices, validating data, model outputs and assumptions
• Contribute to improving tools, processes and methodologies

Required profile

• BA/BS in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or a related field
• 3+ years of actuarial experience
• Commitment to pursuing CAS actuarial credentials with at least 3 passed exams
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving ability and organisational skills to meet tight deadlines

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting
• Preferred: Python, R, SQL and experience using AI for modelling and analytics

What we offer

• Base salary of $70,000 - $130,000, depending on experience, skills, location and certifications
