Accounts Payable Manager

About the role

The Accounts Payable Manager oversees the accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments. The role manages a team of accounts payable clerks, implements best practices for financial controls and works closely with other departments to support the company's financial goals. The position is listed as remote, based in Florida.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a team of accounts payable clerks, provide training and conduct performance evaluations and development plans.
• Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, from invoice receipt, validation and approval to payment, ensuring compliance with policies, legal requirements and accounting standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers, resolving invoice or payment issues promptly.
• Enforce internal controls and prepare and review accounts payable reports for management.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual reports, reconcile transactions and resolve discrepancies.
• Handle annual 1099 preparation and issuance.
• Recommend process improvements, streamline workflows and ensure compliance with policies and regulations while keeping accurate documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in accounts payable or a related financial role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial controls and accounts payable processes.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and effective communication.
