Accounting Assistant (Two Positions)

About the role

The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund is seeking two Accounting Assistants to support the Accounts Section in New York. The role involves office support, financial reporting, and data management for pension contributions and benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Perform office support and administrative functions, including drafting memoranda and routine correspondence.
• Monitor, examine, and process pension contribution schedules using the Integrated Pension Administration System (IPAS).
• Generate reports, reconcile accounting transactions and bank accounts in multiple currencies, and maintain financial tables in Excel.
• Manage large documents in MS Word, proofread and edit for accuracy, and maintain distribution lists and filing systems.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, visualizations, and preparation of presentations and informational material.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; minimum three years of progressive accounting/finance experience (reduced to one year with a university degree).
• Strong knowledge of financial rules, accounting policies, and ability to interpret and analyze data.
• Excellent English language skills (UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, speaking).
