Accountant - Fixed Assets

About the role

The Fixed Asset Accountant supports the Senior Accountant – FA Supervisor in maintaining the integrity of the fixed‑asset sub‑ledger and preparing analytical work papers for internal and external stakeholders. This role contributes to accurate financial statements and Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate proactively with internal and external business partners.
• Collaborate with IT to capitalize project expenditures upon completion.
• Reconcile and analyze capital projects, researching discrepancies.
• Prepare analytical work papers such as corporate tax schedules, audit schedules, monthly variance schedules, and roll‑forwards.
• Identify process improvements and controls to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Answer financial questions for assigned districts and coordinate asset transfers/retirements.
• Review coding of capital expenditure invoices and assist during high‑volume periods.
• Reconcile assigned balance‑sheet accounts and perform monthly journal entries, accruals, re‑classes, and adjustments.
• Research and resolve Fixed Asset clearing account balances.
• Participate in special projects, including testing Oracle Projects and Fixed Asset modules.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting (Master of Accountancy preferred).
• 0‑2 years of accounting experience with exposure to U.S. GAAP and SOX.
• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Experience with Oracle Financials or other large ERP systems.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Hands‑on experience with Oracle Financials (including Oracle Projects and Fixed Asset modules).
