Accountability Specialist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Education is seeking an Accountability Specialist to support the state’s College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). Working under limited supervision, you will ensure data accuracy, assist stakeholders in interpreting results, and help maintain the accountability framework that guides education policy across Georgia.

Key responsibilities

• Validate and ensure the accuracy of CCRPI data calculations.
• Assist schools, LEAs, and other stakeholders in understanding CCRPI reports and metrics.
• Develop and maintain documentation such as business requirements, user guides, and calculation guides.
• Collaborate with IT developers to implement reporting requirements and business rules.
• Interpret data, communicate findings, and present results to diverse audiences.
• Analyze small and large data sets using SQL, Excel, and statistical tools.
• Conduct presentations and workshops for various stakeholder groups.
• Coordinate with multiple divisions within the Department of Education and external partners.
• Travel statewide as needed to support initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in education, policy, psychology, research/measurement, statistics, or a related field.
• At least three years of professional experience in K‑12 education or a related area.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Understanding of state assessment and accountability initiatives, including CCRPI and the state report card.
• Knowledge of state and federal accountability laws and guidance, such as ESSA.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS).
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint).
