Account Manager - Raw Chemicals

About the role

Brenntag is looking for an Account Manager for raw chemicals in St. Louis. Account managers manage the overall sales effort in their assigned territory, using frequent face-to-face and telephone contact in a consultative approach to meet customer needs, identify selling opportunities and drive sales and profit.

Key responsibilities

• Customer business development (70%): meet sales objectives, retain customers and improve satisfaction, set growth strategies and targets, visit customers regularly, negotiate and close proposals, handle spot business and rush offers, and use Brenntag Connect to generate sales.
• New customer generation (10%): identify and prioritize prospects, nurture leads and work with Product Management and Brenntag Specialties on new business opportunities.
• Sales and general admin (15%): set prices within value-based guidelines, document business cases in the local CRM, maintain opportunity pipelines, complete sales and revenue reporting, and forecast product demand.
• Know-how management (5% to be): keep product knowledge up to date, follow product portfolio changes and feedstock and upstream developments affecting prices.

Required profile

• Experience in the chemical distribution business, preferably in a sales capacity (3 to 5 years).
• Post-secondary education preferred, with a focus in Business, Science or equivalent.
• Frequent travel required; valid driver's license with a clean record.
• Physical demands include sitting, typing, standing, walking and driving up to 50% of the day, and lifting up to 30 lbs.

Required skills

• Computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and CRM systems.
• Communication, negotiation and strong commercial understanding.
