Accessory Designer – Junior Market (NYC)

About the role
We are a fast‑moving fashion company focused on the junior market, and we need a creative, detail‑oriented Accessory Designer to develop on‑trend pieces for headwear, neckwear, cold‑weather accessories, and belts. This role is based in our New York office and works on‑site, collaborating closely with production, sourcing, and overseas factories.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct seasonal trend, color, and material research tailored to the junior customer.
- Design and develop accessories from concept through production, creating sketches, CADs, and tech packs.
- Communicate daily with overseas factories to support development, troubleshoot issues, and ensure design intent.
- Partner with sourcing on materials, trims, hardware, yarns, and fabrications aligned with design vision and cost targets.
- Develop prints, graphics, and surface embellishments where applicable.
- Manage multiple categories and seasonal timelines while meeting tight deadlines.
- Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and consumer insights relevant to the junior market.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, or a related field (preferred).
- 3–5 years of accessory design experience, preferably multi‑category and junior‑market focused.
- Proven experience working directly with overseas factories and daily communication.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Proactive, collaborative mindset with a positive attitude.
Required skills
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Ability to create digital sketches quickly and clearly.
- Experience with CAD and technical specification development.
- Knowledge of accessory construction, materials, and hardware.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
