Access Coordinator III – Patient Scheduling & Billing

About the role

The Access Coordinator III serves as a patient resource for scheduling and billing inquiries across multiple clinics, including the Jones Eye Institute, Radiology, and Surgery Clinics. Working under supervision, the role ensures comprehensive patient data collection, accurate billing, timely payment collection, and coordination of appointment conflicts.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate patient appointments using hospital systems.
• Collect co‑pays, deductibles, and other payments.
• Conduct pre‑registration and maintain accurate patient information.
• Verify insurance eligibility and explain benefits.
• Request and file outside medical records.
• Assist other teams and greet the public, answering phones professionally.
• Resolve conflicts using negotiation and active listening.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation, attend training, staff meetings, and orient new staff.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least three years of customer service experience in registration, billing, or scheduling within a healthcare setting.
• Strong communication, computer and telephone etiquette skills.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Preferred: CHAA certification and a bachelor’s degree.
