2nd Shift Machine Operator

About the role

Sandvik Coromant is seeking a 2nd‑shift Machine Operator to set up and run machining equipment in its Westminster, SC facility. The role focuses on delivering parts that meet blueprint specifications while maintaining high quality and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Select and prioritize jobs using the Tracking Control System or leadership direction.
• Set up equipment according to work instructions, blueprints, and specifications, including basic CNC programming.
• Adjust machine parameters and perform robot calibrations as trained.
• Verify process capability with SPC or other control methods using measurement tools such as PER, RollER, comparators, and the Hawk Vision System.
• Conduct visual inspections and monitor operations to meet efficiency targets.
• Identify and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Perform routine equipment and tooling maintenance, evaluating tool condition.
• Operate robotic transport systems and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years of experience in a mechanical or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Current authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).
• Availability for the 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:15 PM) on site in Westminster, SC.

Required skills

• Basic CNC programming and equipment setup.
• Robot calibration.
• Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capability verification.
• Use of measurement devices: PER, RollER, comparators, Hawk Vision System.
• Robotic transport system operation.
• Tooling evaluation and maintenance.
