2nd Shift Entry Level Machinist

About the role

Moog is seeking an entry‑level machinist for the 2nd shift at its Blacksburg, VA facility. This position offers hands‑on experience with a variety of machine shop equipment in a supportive, performance‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic drill press, lathe, milling, and grinding operations.
• Care for and apply turning, plunge, and form tools.
• Operate shear vise, manual and power tapping machines, and select appropriate taps and dies.
• Use power hand tools, grinders, drills, belt and disc sanders, sand and bead blasters.
• Run band saws and cut‑off saws, selecting proper speeds, feeds, and blade specifications.
• Complete required paperwork and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• At least one year of completed vocational training in Machine Technology or equivalent.
• Basic proficiency in general mathematics.
• Knowledge of machine shop gauges and standard machining practices.
