Youth Mentoring Program Coordinator

About the role

The Youth Mentoring Program Coordinator will design, implement, and expand the International Rescue Committee’s mentorship program for youth ages 15‑24 in Wichita. Reporting to the Youth Program Supervisor, the coordinator will recruit and train mentors, match them with eligible youth, and ensure high‑quality mentorship experiences while measuring program outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate delivery of academic, recreational, and enrichment activities for participating youth.
• Develop and manage a systematic process to recruit, train, retain, and recognize volunteer mentors.
• Design outreach, engagement, and training strategies that enable mentors to support goal‑setting and barrier removal for newcomer youth.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external partners such as schools, workforce development agencies, and community organizations to secure referrals and resources.
• Oversee supplemental activities including civic projects, vocational workshops, and social inclusion events.
• Track program metrics, evaluate outcomes, and report findings to senior staff.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience working with youth aged 15‑24, preferably in a mentorship or educational setting.
• Strong program‑coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple activities and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage mentors, youth, and community partners.
• Commitment to the mission of supporting refugees and newcomers in rebuilding their lives.
