Yield Enhancement Technician / Tool Owner

About the role

NXP is hiring an experienced Yield Enhancement Technician / Tool Owner in Austin, Texas, for a semiconductor fabrication environment. The role improves manufacturing yield, optimizes process tool performance and ensures equipment reliability, combining hands-on technical support with ownership of specific process tools.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor wafer yield metrics, identify trends, excursions and systematic defects, and perform root cause analysis using defect inspection, SPC charts and process data.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve yield and reduce variation, and analyze inline and end-of-line data for early warning signals.
• Work with process engineers, integration engineers, maintenance technicians and operations teams.
• Serve as the primary technical owner of assigned inspection tools (e.g., KLA2367, SP1/2, Puma, Altair).
• Ensure tool uptime, availability and performance meet fab targets, track OEE and uptime, and qualify tools after maintenance, upgrades or process changes.
• Provide training and technical guidance to operators and junior technicians.

Required profile

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, equipment engineering or yield improvement.
• Knowledge of semiconductor process areas such as lithography, etch and deposition.
• Familiarity with semiconductor defect inspection and metrology tools.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing cleanroom attire (bunny suit) and to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds.
• May include shift work, on-call support or extended hours during critical issues.

Required skills

• Familiarity with SPC, FDC and yield management systems.
