Workout Officer - Remote

About the role

The Associate Workout Officer will manage a portfolio of low‑ to mid‑complexity non‑performing commercial real‑estate loans, primarily secured by rent‑regulated multifamily properties in New York City. This remote position requires strong analytical, negotiation and relationship‑management abilities to protect the bank’s interests while delivering regulatory‑compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage distressed multifamily loan portfolios, analyzing collateral, borrower financials and market dynamics.
• Develop, implement and monitor workout plans, including modifications, forbearance agreements and foreclosure proceedings.
• Review, interpret and negotiate commercial loan documents such as notes, mortgages, guarantees and intercreditor agreements.
• Conduct underwriting and financial analysis of rent‑regulated properties, preparing credit memoranda and risk assessments.
• Lead negotiations with borrowers, sponsors, investors and legal representatives to achieve mutually acceptable outcomes.
• Coordinate with internal Credit, Legal, Appraisal and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to policies and regulations.
• Maintain accurate loan files and produce periodic portfolio and risk‑management reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in commercial real‑estate workouts, loan documentation, underwriting and credit risk analysis.
