Wireless Systems Research Engineer – Levels III/IV/Sr I

About the role

The Wireless Systems Research Engineer conducts and supports basic and applied research on wireless networks. Working under general direction, the engineer designs, implements and tests innovative solutions for next‑generation wireless systems, serving as a subject‑matter expert on research projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate research proposals, including technical approaches, equipment, protocols and network designs.
• Establish standards and plans for new or upgraded research networks.
• Collect input from researchers, system administrators, contractors and vendors to create specifications and detailed network designs.
• Design and document network security measures for research environments.
• Support ongoing wireless networking research initiatives and provide technical guidance.

Required profile

• Under general direction, experience in wireless networking research and implementation.
• Ability to collaborate with researchers, administrators and external partners.
• Strong analytical and documentation skills.
• Capability to produce technical network designs and proposals.
