Water Resources Design Project Engineer

About the role

Woolpert is seeking a Water Resources Design Project Engineer to join its Houston Water Team. The role supports the delivery of water, wastewater, stormwater and drainage design projects, handling both technical work and project management tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Support all phases of water‑related design projects, from client communication to deliverable generation.
• Perform or lead the creation of technical deliverables in line with scope, schedule and budget.
• Manage project phases, ensuring work meets quality‑assurance requirements.
• Conduct field work as needed and analyse field, H&H and water‑quality data for client presentations.
• Meet internal and external project deadlines while adhering to QA/QC standards.
• Communicate schedule, budget or quality issues and escalate unresolved matters to the project manager or discipline leader.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and the capacity to mentor and cross‑train team members.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Experience using hydraulic modeling software.
• Experience using hydrologic modeling software.
