Warehouse Manager

About the role

Short Story is seeking a Warehouse Manager to lead operational performance at its fulfillment center in South San Francisco. This senior, hands‑on leader will bridge operational leadership and floor‑level teams, driving accountability, quality, and scalable processes.

Key responsibilities

• Own operational performance across outbound shipping, returns, new merchandise intake, and support functions, aligning priorities and quality standards.
• Develop and improve warehouse systems, including product handling, storage, equipment utilization, and workflow design.
• Directly manage Team Leads and Supervisors, coaching them into stronger operators and future leaders.
• Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, build repeatable documented processes, and proactively surface risks.
• Partner with HR on labor planning to ensure appropriate staffing for weekly and monthly goals.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in warehouse or fulfillment operations management.
• Proven track record managing teams of 50–150 people, including supervisors or leads.
• Strong floor presence with the ability to enforce quality standards and hold teams accountable.
• Experience building or improving operational processes in a scaling environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency with G Suite.
• Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) or similar operations tooling.
