Vice President, Engineering & Technical Services

About the role

Apache is looking for a Vice President of Engineering and Technical Services, reporting to the Senior Vice President, based in Houston. The VP designs, implements, leads and oversees all engineering and design activities for the company, with a commitment to safety, ethics, quality, people leadership and customer care.

Key responsibilities

• Work with senior leadership to implement scaffold and Allform engineering design services that meet business objectives
• Develop standards and procedures, manage Allform patents and lead product development
• Manage corporate professional engineering licenses, review and stamp engineering drawings, and coordinate with third-party engineering firms
• Recommend new technologies and ideas, such as AI implementation, to improve engineering efficiency
• Build and manage an engineering and design team, provide performance feedback and handle disciplinary issues in line with company policy
• Represent Apache in industry organizations, conferences and events, and work with the Safety Team on design compliance and accident investigations
• Approve cost-control reports and staffing requirements, establish and manage the department budget, and present performance reports to senior leadership
• Ensure departmental decisions and project plans align with the company's business plan and vision

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Licensed Professional Engineer seal
• 7-10 years of leadership experience in the industrial construction and maintenance business
• Executive presence and ability to interact with senior leaders

Required skills

• Knowledge of scaffolding, formwork and shoring principles and best practices
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations for scaffolding design and ACI regulations for formwork and shoring design
• Knowledge of regional product development standards (e.g., ANSI)
• Strategic planning, collaboration, problem solving and analytical skills
